The Battle of Thermopylae had its short and long term effects on Greece and the world of warfare. In the short term effects, Greece, after that battle, won the Greco- Persian war in a huge upset that allowed a continuation of Greek culture. Thermopylae gave Greece the boost that they needed to finish the job and defeat the Persians once and for all. The long term effects for Greece were that they were no longer underestimated as an army or as a nation. They were seen as the power house of the west, and every war and battle was theirs to win. To this day Thermopylae is always looked back on when thinking about great military achievement, and even had a movie made about it called 300 that released in 2006 that gives a good but not completely accurate description of the battle and some of the decisions that were made. In all Thermopylae definitely made a giant splash in the puddle of the world of war.
